Safeguarding
Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Safeguarding and Child protection are extremely important and taken seriously by all the School community. Our policy ensures that concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which prioritise the needs of the child. If School has any concerns about any aspect of a child’s welfare or safety, referrals are always made to children’s social care in line with local authority procedures. This policy is updated annually in the Autumn Term by the full governing body.
Operation Encompass
Until recently there have been no procedures for reporting Domestic Abuse incidents to schools which means that our children are left without the support and nurture that they require when they need it most. Operation Encompass has been created to address this so that by 9.00am on the next school day the school’s Key Adult will be informed that the child or young person has been involved, heard or witnessed a domestic incident. This knowledge, given to schools through Operation Encompass, allows the provision of immediate early intervention through silent or overt support dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
At Holy Trinity our Operation Encompass Key adults are Mrs. A Whitaker and Miss J Hines.

PREVENT
Prevent is part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy.
The role of the police's Prevent Team officers is to provide practical support to tackle the problem of terrorism and extremism at its roots and prevent vulnerable people and communities from being drawn into terrorism. This includes far-right extremism and some aspects of non-violent extremism.
They work with a range of partners including:
- local authorities
- schools and colleges
- faith leaders
- community groups, including women’s groups and youth groups
- voluntary services
All our staff are aware of the PREVENT strategy and have completed training. The designated PREVENT lead is Mrs Alison Whitaker (Headteacher)

Caritas School Service
We employ a Caritas Social Worker three days a week in school. Rosie Shevlin is a qualified social worker and works Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays. She provides 1:1 support for children, groupwork and valuable support for our families. She also works alongside our Family Support Worker (Miss Wareing) and our Mental Health Ambassadors.
Mobile Phone Free School
At our school, we are committed to creating a safe, happy and focused learning environment where all children can thrive. While we recognise that mobile phones and smart devices can help families communicate before and after the school day, their use during school hours presents potential risks to learning, wellbeing and safeguarding. This policy outlines our expectations for pupils, staff, visitors and parents regarding the use of mobile phones in school. Parents and carers have an important responsibility to support the school by ensuring that children understand and follow these expectations, helping us to promote safe, responsible and respectful use of technology within our school community.
