English

Our English Subject Leader is Mrs C Knight, supported by our link governor Mrs. Nerys Ditchburn-Hughes.

English is mainly split into the areas of reading and writing with all other skills encompassed in these. We aim to develop a lifelong love of reading and writing for all our pupils. We take part in World Book Day and each class has their own library of books to choose from, in addition to our wonderful school library. All children have a chance to visit the library each week and children in Key Stage Two also access the Library Club at lunchtimes, ably led by our reading mentor Miss Reid.

Reading

Some quotes from our children:

"I like going into the library and being able to look at the books before I choose one." Mason

"I am a free reader, so I can choose a book from the class library." Harrison.

"I like to read at home with my mum." Ava

"We have lots of books in our class library that I like." Harriet.

"Reading is fun and I like to read all sorts of books." Willow

Writing

"I enjoy writing about the books we have been reading in class." Isabelle.

"Writing can be fun when we make sentences together."  Kaitlyn.

"I like writing because you can write about anything in your imagination.", Toby
