Geography
Our History Subject Leader is Mrs R. Law and she is supported by Mrs K. Gillam, our Geography Governor.
The study of Geography at our school stimulates an interest in and a sense of wonder about places. It helps our young people make sense of a complex and constantly changing world. It is vital for our pupils to be able to explain where places are, how places and landscapes are formed, how people and their environment interact, and how a diverse range of economies, societies and environments are interconnected. By building on pupils' own experiences and investigating places at all scales, from the personal to the global, we see Geography as playing a vital part in our pupils becoming successful global citizens.
Here are some quotes from our children;
"Geography is fun because we learn about places and people from around the world" - Archie.
"Geography is one of my favourite subjects and I love playing Global, I even play it at home"- Ava.
"I learnt about the continents through a song and it was fun"- Noah.
"I enjoy Geography. We went map reading up Pendle Hill and it was the best trip ever". -Skyla
"I really enjoyed our river trip because we got to see everything we've been learning about in geography in real life. It was so exciting to actually visit a river instead of just looking at pictures in the classroom. We learnt about how rivers flow and got to see things like meanders, rocks and even river bank up close. My favourite part was when we did the experiment to measure how fast the water was moving." Angelina
"Our trip to the river was brilliant because we got to explore nature and learn at the same time. It was really exciting to be outside the classroom and see the river for ourselves. I have never been that close to a real river before. We learnt about how to spot different parts of the river, like the source, the mouth and where it meanders. It was cool to see how the water had shaped the land over time." Oliver
